The Middle East is home to some of the unique building projects in the world, which are not only iconic, but are also complicated and demanding for the project teams, which are often based around the globe.

FREMONT, CA: The Middle East has some of the iconic buildings that can be seen. There is no question that these building projects needed innovative solutions to solve sophisticated design, engineering, and contracting challenges. Tight schedules are the primary constraint for such projects in the Middle East, so it is essential to know how the Middle East is expected to use BIM. 

Increasing use of BIM 

Top 10 BIM Consulting/Services Companies - 2020While BIM is at an early stage of implementation in the Middle East, the reports demonstrate that it is poised for significant growth. The survey results in the report depict that most respondents who are presently utilizing BIM is expected to be at a high level of implementation in two years, and 85 percent of current non-users are either interested in or are actively evaluating BIM. Substantial project and business benefits reported by current BIM users will help drive the market and the perception of BIM’s rising importance to design and contracting firms seeking to stay competitive.

Implementation of BIM

The design and construction professionals in the Middle East who are currently utilizing BIM expects a significant increase in the percentage of the projects that will inculcate BIM over the next two years. Currently, only about half of BIM users in the Middle East are engaging with it on more than 30 percent of their projects, but that within two years, well over three quarters, they will be working at that level of BIM implementation. Amidst the project roles of BIM users, those primarily involved with contracting activities predict that they will be the most active, with 83 percent forecasting that implementation level. The plans to increase BIM implementation throughout the Middle East are robust, but there are some differences among specific regions.

BIM Benefits

BIM users in the Middle East believe that it generates powerful benefits, both on their projects and their businesses. BIM users also report receiving several internal business benefits from BIM at a high or very high standard.
