The acquisition will enable visual creators to integrate real and virtual worlds, and increase the adoption of the 3D capture technology across industries.
FREMONT, CA: As innovative discoveries continue to fill the market ecosystem with new devices every day, a large portion of consumers remain secluded from possessing such gadgets. The restricted diffusion of technology is led due to the stratospheric price. Even though the addition of new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, and 5G technology is rising, the prices to employ them are high.
Following the elevating demand for affordable innovative methods, Matterport, a 3D capture technology and data company, acquired Arraiy, a pioneer in groundbreaking evolutionary computation and computer vision technology that enables visual creators to integrate real and virtual worlds.

With the introduction of affordable 3D capture technology via a software integration announced earlier this year with 360 cameras, Matterport has increased the adoption of its visualization technology across industries, including architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) and insurance, restoration, and property claims. On the flip side, Arraiy has developed a self-learning artificial intelligence (AI) platform that leverages machine learning and computer vision to unhitch supplementary methods for blending real and virtual digital imagery.
Furthermore, the acquisition will incorporate Arraiy's core engineering team with Matterport's mission to support the company’s mission to build the industry-leading computer vision (CV) data platform. In addition to Matterport achieving its aim, the company launched a proprietary cloud software, Matterport Cloud 3.0, and AI engine called Cortex that utilizes AI-powered image processing technology to transform panoramic and 360-degree visuals into fully immersive 3D models.
With the acquisition of Arraiy, Matterport’s mission is to continue enabling new applications for 3D capture technology in daily living, working and learning environments. Matterport sees fresh potential for new innovations that use machine learning and computer vision as a direct result of the acquisition. Expanding the team of experienced individuals, Matterport's industry-leading 3D capture technology will be able to function more effectively and efficiently.
The advantage of including AI technology will improve Matterport’s immersive 3D platform, enhancing its ability to collect, create, and share 3D models of physical spaces readily for consumer and professional use.
