Clash detection software and programming will be even more impressive with a complete BIM Execution Plan.
FREMONT, CA: BIM execution plans contain all agreed-upon BIM cooperation mechanisms. This document lists processes, relationships, responsibilities, regulations, model or data needs, BIM aims, and objectives for reference during and after the project. BIM Execution plan combines spatial coordination and construction planning to offer simulation, coordination analysis, and change management during construction. Identifying, preventing, and resolving conflicts before construction begins, lowers costs, minimizes scheduling risks, and decreases the number of change orders.
Model requirements for coordination (LOD): Many underestimate the intricacy of the planning, the most important part of design coordination. BIM Execution Plans include a Model Component Table, WHO will model WHAT, and WHEN. Throughout a project, model parts develop at various "levels of development" (LOD). To analyze models during collision review, the BIM Execution Plan must specify the minimum size of a design object to be modeled. The team should also decide how to model and check clearance zones like accessibility space demands and operation and maintenance access zones.

Quality control: It checks for interference between components or locations before construction. The BIM Execution plan consists of four quality control checks. Visual check, checks for undesired model components and design purpose. Interference check helps in finding conflicts between model components. Standard check helps ensure the project follows the company's BIM & CAD standard. Model integrity check, ensure the project followed the company's BIM standards, and data was free of mistakes, undefined elements, and duplication. It will also report data anomalies and propose corrective action.
Clash review workflow: The Project Engineer, Architect, and BIM Manager hold a "Design Review" regularly or daily. For testing the design in a larger context. The second step is to clash reviews at milestones, weekly or biweekly, depending on the project. Clash reviews should occur at key construction milestones. The stages of conceptual design are design development and construction documents (90 percent).
Coordination analysis strategy: The BIM manager and discipline leads should create a coordination plan with an analytical method ("System A" vs. "System B") for clash review during BIM Execution Planning. Clash reviews occur at milestones, and some design-build projects require weekly clash reviews after 30 percent completion. Clash detection programming and software will become astounding with a complete BIM Execution Plan.
