Dura Products Announces New Scheme to Combat C&D Waste

Dura Products has been manufacturing sustainable road kerbs since 2003 and has always favored the green credentials of its sourcing, production, and installation.

FREMONT, CA: Dura Products, a leader in sustainable construction, has announced the introduction of a new scheme to combat Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW), which the UK generates over 60 million tonnes per year. Its ground-breaking Hire, Reclaim, and Reuse program allows customers to hire recycled plastic kerbing and drainage solutions for a set period before returning them to be reclaimed and reused on future projects.

Steve Bennett, Managing Director of Dura Products, commented: “We are incredibly excited to launch this first of its kind initiative! The scheme will be adopted within our environmental policy, developing over time with each and every uptake. In order to propel the construction industry towards a more sustainable future, we must be eco-conscious at every stage of development to ensure we get the maximum life out of the resources we use. The solutions we provide fit this criterion, and our new scheme, aimed at extending product life ever further, is the next logical step for us to take.”

Dura Products has been manufacturing sustainable road kerbs since 2003 and has always favored the green credentials of its sourcing, production, and installation. However, demolition of buildings accounts for 32 percent of waste transported to a landfill; thus, the company has increased its attention on the recyclability of its products to combat this.

Dura Products responded by launching its Hire, Reclaim, and Reuse program, which allows contractors to hire and utilize its products for a set period before returning them to be reclaimed and reused on future projects. Its goal is to keep polymer waste in use for as long as feasible to build a multiple recycling loop system with compounding environmental benefits. The program will be critical for short-term construction projects since it will provide an environmentally friendly answer to the garbage generated by the demolition of temporary infrastructures. Every Dura Product unit will be retrieved and reused rather than being discarded.
