Construction Technologies of Tomorrow to Stay Ahead in the Competition

By Construction Tech Review | Tuesday, March 26, 2019

A lot of new technologies have entered the construction space today, such as wearable’s, and devices, drones, robots, and software, and applications have emerged to enable construction companies in designing safer job sites, improving communication, and reducing costly injuries and delays. With advancements in IoT devices, it seems that the future of construction will become the Hogwarts Castle where every part of the building will be communicating with each other.

Innovation in the construction site is the result of creativity and sustained period of disciple approach. Technology in construction comes with devising innovative new ways of constructing, and while the changing future of construction is largely unknown, some construction technology trends are paving the way for certain futuristic construction technology.

Every year governments and companies spend billions of dollars in maintaining, fixing, and restoring roads, buildings, tunnels, and bridges annually. But this scenario can be changed: self-healing concrete would add years to a building’s life and be an enormous help time-wise and financially.

With rising temperature, developers and city planners are giving weight to the building which can make the city more breathable. Buildings are therefore now decorated with trees and shrubs, making them look like ‘vertical forests,’ a design that is incredibly productive in the fight against air pollution. Today, more companies and business owners are taking part in protecting the environment, and this building technology is likely to be a worldwide trend.

The World Economic Forum stressed that the future of the construction industry would be dominated by 3D printing. A construction company in China, for example, is building new properties using a huge 3-D printer that pertains building waste and cement layers. Company representatives say that it is possible to produce up to 10 of these homes in a day, each costing less than $5,000.
