CDV Systems and CSO Announce a new Product Integration

Collectus is a remote BIM management product developed by CDV Systems, and 26 Degrees Software that gives architecture, engineering, building, and owner (AECO) firms and institutions access to a complete and fully functional Autodesk Revit standards library in the cloud.

FREMONT, CA: BIM workflows are becoming more prevalent in the design, estimation, construction, and facility management processes, so BIM professionals need quick and easy access to libraries and organizing concepts. CDV Systems (CDV) and The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) have announced a product integration that connects CSI’s commonly used construction industry organizing concepts with cloud-based BIM libraries to meet this need.

“We could not be more excited to work with CSI in this dynamic new way”, says Cyril Verley, Founder, and President, CDV Systems. “Using CROSSWALK within Collectus, our clients can now deliver their Revit project models from design, to estimating, procurement, construction, compliance, to final as-builts without any time waisted converting classification data from one format to another. Since the connection is always live, any industry classification changes made by CSI are directly available within Collectus ensuring their classification data is always accurate, while dramatically reducing time spent on classification translations.”

Collectus is a remote BIM management product developed by CDV Systems, and 26 Degrees Software that gives architecture, engineering, building, and owner (AECO) firms and institutions access to a complete and fully functional Autodesk Revit standards library in the cloud.

“This use case is exactly what we built CROSSWALK for,” noted Mark Dorsey, CEO, CSI. “CROSSWALK brings the organization of construction information into the 21st century, enabling the vision and development of built environment entrepreneurs like Collectus,” he added.

The CSI-powered CROSSWALK gated web service’s incorporation into Collectus solves a major problem for the AECO industry: the lack of an automated workflow to convert Revit asset parameter data from one collection of CSI organizing principles to another. Although architects and engineers (AEs) usually use MasterFormat organizing principles to handle asset classifications in their models, contractors receiving AEs models may prefer UniFormat organizing principles, and facility owners may prefer OmniClass organizing principles for receiving their as-built Revit models.

Collectus users would have access to a direct connection to CROSSWALK from inside the Revit model thanks to the Collectus and CROSSWALK integration. This function transforms all Revit system and type family assets’ MasterFormat asset parameter data into UniFormat and OmniClass parameter data. The MasterFormat organizing concepts are used to organize all 18,000+ family asset material in the Collectus Revit library. Collectus users can convert all family MasterFormat parameter data in their models to Uniformat and OmniClass parameter data with a single click.
