Construction teams can use models to review how building elements are arranged before anything is installed. Digital information gives another reference point when drawings alone do not answer questions about spatial relationships. In practice, the model is only useful if it includes the information needed during construction, not just a copy of the design.

Coordination is still important on site. A model can help teams look at areas where several building systems need to fit into limited space. A digital representation can make certain design conditions easier to explain during reviews. That can be useful when owners or construction personnel need to understand how a proposed change affects the building.
The handover stage introduces another question. Owners may receive large amounts of digital project information after construction, although the information is useful only when it can be understood and maintained. Model requirements should therefore be considered before handover rather than treated as a final documentation exercise.
Facility teams can use BIM information when planning future work, depending on the level of detail and accuracy maintained in the model.
