The evolution of construction projects is fraught with a plethora of growing complexities. Project owners, especially, are continually striving to balance size, cost, complexity, and risk to remain relevant and have a competitive edge in the market. At this juncture, project management becomes imperative to lead a competent team that can handle the dynamics of the project, simplify the construction process, establish a culture of transparency, and execute strategies expeditiously. According to Mckinsey’s Global Report, more than 40 percent of megaprojects are behind schedule. Hence, as a fully integrated, global project management organization, Abbott works across all areas of construction projects to attain hassle-free project completion. It delivers the industry know-how and resources needed to create trust in businesses around the world, helping them consistently meet project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.

Taking the next step, Randy Thomas, Managing Director of Abbott, outlines how project management is segmented and how delays and poor planning frequently bring massive projects to a standstill. Randy mentions, “One of the main challenges companies encounter is siloed project management. Often, major projects face delays due to poor planning and lack of understanding of the exposure mapping.”

When projects are reviewed, it is found that the Project Management Office (PMO) often considers every project to be equal. This loss of distinctiveness among projects leads to inadequate or ineffective project management coverage.
With offices across the nation, Abbott’s team provides tailor-made, end-to-end project management solutions and uses innovative technologies to handle complex projects. The organization reviews all 15 elements of project management to guarantee a successful managerial PMO structure. These elements include strategic alignment, roles and responsibilities, governances, project planning, cost management, risk management, and others.

Furthermore, Abbott believes in ‘clarity’ driving results, effectively translating every client’s vision into constructive reality. Randy states, “Clarity is a great professional lead strategy that provides a systematic approach to establish a solid foundation for every project.” By having the necessary management controls in place from the start, Abbott can smoothly second-team members to execute project management processes, align risk management controls, and move timelines forward. Abbott’s culture centers on finishing projects with a high level of diligence and energy while also mitigating risk.

To provide more clarity, Randy discusses a client’s project, which started in 2015 and was supposed to be completed by 2020. The project’s execution faced delays due to inexperienced EPC contractors, a lack of a strong PMO, and inefficient project controls. Also, the continuous turnover of seven project managers throughout the project suggested that an ineffective PMO system was in place. Abbott stepped in and focused on managing the varied nature of data generated in the course of the project. Abbott helped the client collect, manage, track and audit the project data received from various sources, thereby ensuring quality project management.

Drilling down into the data is the only method to detect minor lapses in project management quality. At Abbott, project management is data-driven and handled entirely by a team of experts who have real-world expertise rather than mere academic understanding. The services offered by Abbott are unique in many ways, unlike many other advisory firms. Rather than merely advising and suggesting the necessary steps for improvement, Abbott works in hand with the client to establish their vision through staff augmentation. Apart from mastering complex projects in America, Abbott plans to expand into markets in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The company has a legacy of 45 years of effective project management for clients globally and is continuing to provide both enterprise and project solution to its clients.” Abbott is a purpose led firm that breaks the barriers, creates confidence and drives the results.” Randy concludes.
