How Will Green Construction Revolutionize Construction Projects in 2020?

By Construction Tech Review | Thursday, December 12, 2019

Constructing building brings responsibility to recognize that the building today should endure and enhance the lives of those who come after us. Green construction techniques help to boost up the construction project in a significant manner.

FREMONT, CA: The primary way in which green technology benefits are achieved is through greater energy efficiency. Every aspect of the green building structure, comprising the siting, design, construction materials, and the systems used to run and maintain operations are environment-friendly and sustainable.

Numerous researchers have documented cases of the sick building syndrome that can create an unhealthy work environment in commercial buildings, particularly the buildings that are located in hotter climates where ventilation issues are common. When HVAC systems are permanently left on, they can accumulate condensation that permits unhealthy mold spores to emerge. Energy-efficient green building solutions can turn off HVAC systems automatically when there is no need to maintain the correct temperature and humidity for health. Innovative software and sensors can be put in place to monitor the ventilation system.

Biodegradable materials

The use of biodegradable materials is an environment-friendly method of making construction sustainable. Most of the traditional construction ways lead to the accumulation of waste products and toxic chemicals, and these take almost hundreds of years to degrade. Even if they degrade, it results in the contamination and later harms the environment. Biodegradable resources comprising organic paints help restrict the negative impact on the ecosystem as they easily decay without the release of toxins. The use of biodegradable materials for walls, building foundation, and insulators are considered as a part of sustainable construction technologies.

Cool Roofs

Cool roofs are sustainable green design technologies that focus on reflecting heat and sunlight away. It also helps in keeping homes and buildings at the standard room temperatures by minimizing the heat absorption and thermal radiance. The design makes use of paints that are reflective in nature and the tiles that absorbs comparatively less heat and reflect away most of the solar radiation. For example, cool roofs can minimize temperatures by more the 50 degrees Celsius during summer. Cool roofs eliminate the dependence on air conditioning and in turn, reduces the energy use, which translates into decreased cumulative greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

Sustainable Resource

Renewable resource sourcing, as the name suggests, is an example of sustainable construction innovation as it ensures the use of construction materials designed and created from recycled products and have to be eco-friendly. In most cases, products from agricultural waste are used to produce construction materials. In general, the materials used are recyclable, recycled, remanufactured, and obtained from sustainable sources.
